Since this auction will end on June 22, please forward all emails before June 17. The winning bidder will be notified the evenning of June 24.An exquisite offering. This is a original and genuine Lucio Fontana, naturally listed and his major works are extremely rare and pricey. Lucio Fontana 1899-1968, abstract artist black ink and punch paper technique. This offering is exquisite and measures 11 3/4 in length and 7 1/4 in width, black ink on paper with a steady line of small punch indentations in the paper. I am showing both sides of this work so that you viewers can see this work in its entirity. This is from my personal collection, provenanced,.....Galerie T. Brechbuhl and is from his series of "Concetto Spaziale Segino" 1961-1963. Initialed "L.F." at the bottom left corner, the paper does show alittle edge aging, otherwise, a perfect Fontana by the master abstract linear-punch paper artist. Lucio Fontana works show punch papering and slitting, his abdication of expression in his artworks. Estimated Value $4000 to $7000 USD. Since this is only a estimate by comparison to these types from Fontana by past Sotheby auction, the market constantly changes upon the demand factor. I will start this auction off at 10% of low estimate=$400. You can view this Fontana by typing in the web address directly at http://www.geocities.com/jsuis2003/fontana.jpg and http://www.geocities.com/jsuis2003/lucio.jpg This Fontana is professionaly framed and matted. ######## Seller: time-to-listen New England Shilling contemporary counterfeit Item # 3032162178 Started Jun-23-03 14:08:36 PDT Ends Jun-30-03 14:08:36 PDT Description:To view this coin, you can either type in on your browser bar, http://www.geocities.com/rosered12003/12.jpg and http://www.geocities.com/rosered12003/12a.jpg or you can email me and I will email you the necessary links to click on. From my late uncles estate. When I first started to sell on ebay, I had mentioned that my late uncle had coins to sell, however, his passion was art. I had listed some coins but got many emails criticizing them as far as authenticity is concern, I am not a coin collector nor do I have an interest in coins, I am just disposing of his collection. This coin along with many others had been sent to a collector-researcher in another state. This coin is "thought" to be a "Contemporary Counterfeit" of a 1652 New England Shilling AND NOT A copy or reproduction. Thus meanning, it was produced during the time period as the genuine coins were, atleast, that is how I understand it, but he assured me that this was not a copy or reproduction. It was further stated for reasons that it was struck in silver, it also has the weight level as genuine coins of this nature has, and that is it weights 4.397 grams. Also, the size is at 29.75mm by 29mm. Also, the "axis" is identical to all genuine coins of this nature, but most importantly, it is said that the "Die" combination does not line up to any known examples that are genuine and that is the give-away. So please do not think that this is a genuine coin which he states would be worth some $20,000 or so. He furthers by saying by conversation that there was a researcher named Walter Breen that list in his book that there are a few contemporary counterfeits but does not picture any examples for the shilling coin, just the sixpense denomination. My uncle had bought this from a dealer back in 1968 at a Chicago show, I have no idea on what he had paid for this coin. Please look at the pictures and decide whether it is worth bidding. I do not want to write a book here, but please, I do not want criticizm regarding this coin. I have no idea on how to place a value, but after several phone calls, I was told if it is contemporary, it is extremely rare as such and worth a great deal, how much? who knows. I certainly understand now the arrogance in coin collecting. I always thought that a hobby should be fun with learnning values. I do not understand coins, but for the most, I sold all his gold coins and alot of earlier dollars from the late 1790's, so I guess, he did have a interest in coins to some degree. Please see payment and shipping instructions below. This coin will be sent insured mail. I hope someone likes this, if not, no loss! Sincerly Jacqueline
[note: unlike vlaminck1922's auctions, this auction has been deleted from eBay's server because time-to-listen had previously been suspended for shill activity, and because it had not closed when she was suspended.]
And from the files I saved during my first campaign against this shill operation in April 2003, I found that this same coin had been previously offered (I saved it at the time from the geocities URL quoted,) as auction# 3012940692, this time with a bit less wear, minus the small hole and with a totally different account of its origin! - the "Chicago show" in 1968 had turned into "Richard Evans" in 1959 :-)
Seller: time-to-listen New England (NE) XII struck in silver. From my uncles estate is this New England XII coin, struck in silver. My uncle had stated on the coins envelope that it is "not genuine" but not modern, tendency towards a contemporary counterfeit, not a copy or reproduction. Bought this in 1959 from Richard Evans. This he notes firmly, struck from a pair of dies with the mongram in form with English 15th century script, he further notes that this is one of three, silver in sterling, the weight is4.39 grams and the size is 29. 3/4 MM X 29. 1/2 MM. I am selling off my uncles estate coin and art collection. I cannot guarantee and coins authenticity, so please look closely at the pictures. This coin speaks for itself, it is not a genuine issue. Please view payment instruction at the bottom of the page, Sold "AS IS" with no reutrns. This coin has nice greyish-blue tone with no damage. $3 insured shipping. Thank you Jacqueline
Just to prove the point, resizing and rotating the earlier offering demonstrates that, despite some extra ageing and 'wear and tear', these are one and the same piece:

Left: 3012940692 offered April 2003
Right: 3032162178 offered June 2003
Even the most cursory examination shows that the flan is exactly the same shape, the identical countermark is from exactly the same crude die, and that exactly the same coarse scratches are visible @ 6 o'clock. The only difference is the darker toning, bored hole and attempted piercing.
