You have been warned! * ******************************************************** This is an object lesson in the use of regular expressions ("regex"es), and worth taking some time to inspect (if you can be bothered.) The trick is to give an estimate over a narrow band of numbers. It's a little more detailed than it needed to be, but that means the answer is at least as good as an averagely numerate human can achieve, so worth the extra effort I think. The two regex features this script relies on are: 1) characters in square brackets, eg: [1234567890] match any single character from the enclosed set. 2) if you arrange it thus: ([1234567890]+) it will match any combination of the characters to any length. The keyphrase groupings are arranged in logarithmic bands of decreasing accuracy as the numbers increase. If I could be bothered to unpick it all and list it in the order it was entered (and I might if I get time, since it would be a much clearer illustration of the method than this inevitably complex description!) you would see that first I entered : - keyphrases the whole numbers 1 to 144, ranked at 30 to give a base level. (Actually rank=60 for 100-144, to avoid partial matches from higher ranked regexes @ 100+) - then regex bands of decimals from 0 to 100 (rank=50) split into 3 bands between each whole number to ensure accuracy. At this scale humans are quite accurate, so this ensures similar precision. - then decimals 100-1000 and whole numbers 145-1000, rank=40 split into only 2 bands between each hundred to simulate human vagueness when dealing with such large numbers. - then decimals and whole numbers 1000-10000, rank=40 now only 2 bands between each thousand, thus grouping 1000-1500, 1500-2000, 2000-2500, etc. and giving an average. - ditto 10000-100000, rank=50 2 bands between each 10000 - ditto 100000-1000000, rank=50 2 bands between each 100000 It looks complicated, but I did much of the generation of the code on a spreadsheet. It would have been almost trivial had I been able to paste it into an import file, but alas BJ is too large, and it had to be pasted into the web interface line by line :( Feel free to use/modify/make any other use you like of this listing. If you just paste this in to your bot's mindfile exactly as it is, you'll get an error message: ERROR: Too many Responses here are used in other Bots. In the interest of originality, copying Responses from one bot to another is not allowed. You can have the same Keyphrases, but your Responses must be original. You'll need to at least add/delete one or more characters to/from each response to make it an effectively different set of Responses. It would probably be better to take some time to paste in more personalized responses to suit your bot's personality. NB: Installing this module will gain your bot quite a lot of development points.
